PitStop Professional 08
« back to FAQs index
Q: What are the New Features in PitStop Professional 08
A:

Sign-off on preflight errors
Preflight profiles can be created in such a way that the user can override certain errors; if such an error is discovered during preflight, the user is allowed to sign off on it and indicate that in his workflow this item will not be an issue.

New PitStop Inspector
A complete redesign of the inspector regroups properties in a much more logical way. The new inspector is significantly smaller and can be collapsed to avoid obscuring the PDF document.-

Better page configuration (page box) handling
If a document contains trim marks, PitStop Professional can automatically locate these and use them to set a proper trim box for the page. In many cases PitStop Professional can also automatically fix objects without proper bleed.

Contextual menus
Using contextual (right-click or option-click) menus, the selection tool provides much quicker access to frequently used functions.

Updated to the latest standards and operating systems
PitStop Professional 08 supports the new PDF/X-4 and the latest specifications from the Ghent PDF Workgroup. Microsoft Windows Vista and Apple Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) are supported as well.

Color Conversion
Separate color conversion tool to deviate from the color management preferences and use other color settings e.g. device links, evaluate values, retry, … .

Technology
* Detect objects without proper bleed and possibility to fix many of these problem objects.
* Trim marks can automatically be located and used to set a proper trim box for the page.
* Additional check for image resolution to warn if resolution is in a "grey" zone.
* PDF objects can belong to one or more layers, also called Optional Content Groups. PDF layers are very powerful and have nothing to do with object ordering.
* Annotated Reports combine report information with the processed document, which can be exported from the PDF. This allows inspecting the report info without using Enfocus software.
Sign-off preflight errors that may be overridden and are not an issue in the given workflow.
* Support PDF/X-4 and the latest specifications (1v4) from the Ghent PDF Workgroup.
* Apple Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) is supported.

User Interface Experience
* Redesigned the inspector to logically regroup items and make the window significantly smaller and even collapsible.
* Contextual (right-click or option-click) menu for quick access to selection related functions.
* Rearranged color management preferences to avoid confusion.
